Terms of Service — Convo

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, accessing, or using Convo, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your region, whichever is higher) to use Convo. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Convo only with the consent of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

3. The service

Convo is a Mandarin Chinese learning app that provides structured speaking and listening lessons, pronunciation practice with speech transcription and feedback, AI conversation scenarios, free conversation practice, personalized onboarding, and a premium tier with additional and custom scenarios. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

4. Account responsibilities

You can sign in with Google Sign-In or an email magic link. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Provide accurate information, keep your email address current, and contact us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Convo for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose;
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users or third parties through the Service;
• Scrape, harvest, or copy content or data from the Service by automated means without our written permission;
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service, except where applicable law prohibits this restriction;
• Interfere with, disrupt, or place unreasonable load on the Service, our servers, or other users' access to the Service.

6. Free trial and premium access

Convo offers a 7-day free trial so you can try the Service before deciding whether to subscribe. Trial eligibility, duration, and what is included are shown in the app when you start the trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends as described in the app, access to premium features may continue under a paid subscription.

Paid subscriptions, if and when offered, are billed through the applicable app store (Apple App Store or Google Play). App store billing terms and each app store's own terms of service apply to those purchases, including renewal, cancellation, and refunds, which are handled under the app store's policies. Prices and subscription contents may change, and we will disclose current pricing in the app before you subscribe.

7. AI-generated content

Convo uses AI models to generate conversation responses, scenarios, and pronunciation feedback, including transcriptions of your speech. This output is generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. It is provided for language-learning practice only and is not professional advice of any kind — including but not limited to language, legal, medical, or other professional advice. Use your own judgment, and do not rely on AI output as a substitute for qualified advice.

8. User content

“User content” means the answers, messages, speaking exercises, and other material you submit in the Service. You keep ownership of your user content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, transmit, and display your user content as needed to operate the Service — for example, to store your answers, generate feedback, and show your progress. This license ends when your content is deleted along with your account, except for copies retained as required for security, backups, or legal compliance.

9. Intellectual property

Convo, including its software, design, lessons, branding, and content, is owned by Wilfred Manyara and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial language learning. This license does not allow you to copy, redistribute, sell, or create derivative works from the Service except as these Terms or applicable law permit.

10. Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep Convo available and reliable, but the Service may be interrupted from time to time for maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, to the extent permitted by law and by any active subscription terms shown in the app.

11. Termination

You may stop using Convo at any time, and you may request account deletion by emailing [email protected] as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — will survive.

12. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Convo is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that AI-generated output will be accurate or reliable.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wilfred Manyara and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or USD $100. Some regions do not allow certain limitations, so these limits may not apply to you.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nairobi, Kenya, unless applicable consumer law in your region provides otherwise.

15. Changes to terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use of Convo after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and request account deletion.
